Shortly after Orange announced the upcoming availability of the UK’s first Intel-powered Android smartphone, the San Diego, Vodafone UK revealed the affordable Smart II handset.

Available in grey and white colors, the Smart II is the spiritual successor of the popular Vodafone SMART phone, which was introduced in the UK a while back.

Customers can grab the Vodafone Smart II for just 70 GBP (110 USD or 85 EUR) on PAYG (pay as you go).

Obviously, the smartphone is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and offers quite a few neat features that set it apart from other budget-friendly phones.

In this regard, the Vodafone Smart II smartphone comes packed with a feature that allows owners to control their calls much easier:

Say you're having dinner with mates when a call comes through but you don't want to answer. Simply flip your Smart II over and it'll know to stop ringing. Or how about those annoying times when you miss a call because your phone was in your pocket? The clever Smart II knows - and the ringtone will play louder - so you'll never miss the goss again.”

Although the Smart II is built on the success of its predecessor, it outperforms the Vodafone SMART in every way, while still retaining its affordability trait in order to appeal to customers thinking about getting their first smartphone.

The phone is manufactured by either ZTE or Huawei and sports a decent 3.2-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 320 pixels resolution. In addition, it packs a mediocre 3-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and video recording.

Even though the Vodafone Smart II embeds on 150MB of internal memory, users will be able to expand storage amount up to 32GB via microSD card. It is also worth mentioning that the phone is shipped with a free 2GB memory card in the sale package. Check it out here.
