December seems to be Sony Ericsson’s month with all these promising handsets that leaked in the past three weeks. We have already reported on the alleged Sony Ericsson Nozomi and the more recently leaked Sony Ericsson Pepper.

Today, we have another leak coming straight from the folks over at XperiaBlog who were tipped on the upcoming Sony Ericsson ST21i, also known as Tapioca.

This time we don’t have any picture of the device, instead the handset shows up in the AnTuTu benchmark, which is why we have more details on the smartphone’s hardware configuration.

Unlike Sony Ericsson Nozomi, which is a top-tier Android-based smartphone, the alleged Sony Ericsson ST21i “Tapioca” is an affordable handset that runs Google’s mobile platform.

As we can notice from the leaked screenshot the Sony Ericsson ST21i “Tapioca” runs Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

This is not such a bad thing especially that the phone is meant to replace Sony-Ericsson’s feature-phones. In this regard, the Swedish-Japanese joint-venture plans to phase-out its feature-phone business, but no timeframe has been given yet.

According to the guys over at XperiaBlog, Sony Ericsson ST21i is equipped with an 800 MHz single core processor and packs 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of ROM, and possibly microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

There’s also a decent 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 320 x 480 pixels resolution and 16 million colors.

For the time being, there is no information on the phone’s possible release date or price options, but there’s a high chance that Sony Ericsson will announce some of the leaked devices next year during CES 2012 or MWC 2012.

Stay tuned for more updates on the matter, as Softpedia will attend next year’s Mobile World Congress trade fair, which is set to kick-off on February 27.
