Officially unveiled back in June, Nokia Asha 311 is a powerful S40 feature-phone that has just made its debut in India.

In fact, Nokia fans living in India are the first customers who have the chance to purchase this full-touch handset. The Finnish company currently offers the Nokia Asha 311 for a suggested retail price of Rs 7,139 (130 USD or 105 EUR).

For the time being the phone is only available through Nokia Store locations, but several leading retailers across the country will add the Asha 311 to their portfolios in the following days.

Unfortunately, we don’t have additional info on the pricing options, but we suspect the Asha 311 might be priced a bit cheaper at authorized sellers.

It is also worth mentioning that Nokia Asha 311 is available in Dark Grey, Rose Red, Blue, Brown and Sand White color options.

Aimed at emerging markets, the handset comes pre-loaded with a social client that allows users to quickly access Facebook, Twitter, as well as other social networks.

With the latest version of Nokia Browser, Asha 311 users will be provided with fast and affordable mobile internet. There’s more to it as the phone features WhatsApp popular messaging application pre-installed.

WhatsApp has a clear vision of creating a reliable and easy to use cross-platform messaging application that enables people to stay in touch with their family and friends from all around the world. By partnering with Nokia whose worldwide reach in mobile is well established, WhatsApp becoming available for the Asha Touch devices will enable us to further realize our core mission” said, Brian Acton, co-founder of WhatsApp Inc.

The Nokia Asha 311 is powered by a 1 GHz single-core processor and packs a 3.2MP camera on the back with video recording. It also sports a more than decent 3.0-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 240 x 400 pixels resolution, and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating.
