14 DAY TRIAL // Indian OEM Karbonn is back with yet another Android smartphone. In fact, the company officially introduced not one, but two budget-friendly smartphones in the country, the A1+ Super and A5+ Turbo.
Both smartphones are sequels to popular Karbonn smartphones and are aimed at the entry-level segment of the market. In this regard, Karbonn has announced that the A+1 Super smartphone will be available for purchase in India for Rs 3,490 ($57 / €42) outright.
The second Android smartphone launched by Karbonn in India, the A5+ Turbo, will also go on sale in India in just a few days for only Rs 3,290 ($54 / €40) off contract.
The good news is that both smartphones come with the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box, which might give Karbonn the upper hand when it comes to cheaper handsets.
Spec-wise, none of the two Karbonn smartphones will impress Android fans, but they could be the perfect choice for those who plan to switch to Android from a feature phone.
First of all, both handsets offer dual-SIM capability and, as mentioned earlier, are powered by Android 4.4 KitKat, which is one of the latest versions of Google’s operating system.
Karbonn A+1 Super is equipped with a 1.3GHz dual-core processor and only 256MB of RAM. The latter spec is one of the phone’s downsides, as not all apps and games in Google Play Store will work smoothly on the handset.
Furthermore, the smartphone sports a 3.5-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 320 pixels resolution, as well as dual cameras (3-megapixel rear-facing camera and VGA secondary camera).
Next in line, the Karbonn A5+ Turbo is powered by a single core 1GHz processor, which is complemented by 256MB of RAM. It's also worth mentioning that the phone features a similar 3-megapixel camera on the back as the A1+ Super, along with a VGA front-facing camera. The A5+ Turbo also sports a 3.5-inch display that supports HVGA resolution.
Both Karbonn smartphones offer a decent range of connectivity options, including EDGE, Wi-Fi, microSD card slot for memory expansion, Bluetooth and GPS.
