Bee Mobile, a small handset manufacturer has just released its first Android-powered phone, the Bee 7100. The smartphone is now available for purchase in UAE via Axiom Telecom for only AED 399 (109 USD or 83 EUR) off-contract.

It appears that the Bee 7100 set a new milestone for the cheapest Android phone available in UAE. For the money they pay to get the smartphone, customers also receive a 1-year Axiom warranty, along with a free 2GB microSD memory card for memory expansion.

The phone is powered by Google’s Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, but there’s a slight chance the phone will receive a Gingerbread upgrade in the near future.

In this regard, the manufacturer states that the phone sports a 2-megapixel rear camera, which is upgradable to 3.2-megapixel via software update. However, there is no mention of whether or not this is the Android 2.3 Gingerbread or just a minor maintenance software update.

It is also worth mentioning that the Bee 7100 packs a secondary front-facing VGA camera for video calls. However, this feature will only be unlocked after the smartphone eventually receives the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update.

Another downside of the smartphone is the fact that its 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen display is resistive and not capacitive. The display supports 262k colors and 240 x 320 pixels resolution.

Still, the affordable Bee 7100 comes with dual-SIM, dual-Standby support, which makes it a perfect choice for customers who are looking for a cheap Android phone that replace both their handsets.

The phone measures 108.2 x 57.8 x 14.2mm and packs a 4GB onboard memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 2GB memory card included).

Other highlights of the phone included Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, microUSB port, Stylus, Radio FM and e-book reader.

The phone’s 1000 mAh Li-Ion battery is rated by the manufacturer for up to 160 hours of standby time or up to 4 hours of talk time.

ghastly rubbish - no decent manual - no graphics or schematics in manual - stupid instructions - impossible to follow - no calendar - software does not work - wifi does not work - interface counter intuitive. A AWFUL PHONE DO NOT BUY IT

Actually for the money this is a decent phone.

If you're looking for a dual-sim android phone and you're not bothered about running high end applications and games then this phone is ok. The touchscreen is resistive but it responds well to finger input although a stylus and stylus mount is included.

It's not a high end phone at all, I wouldn't want to run many applications although I tested a basic game and it worked just fine. The resolution seems to be a bit higher than the screen is designed for resulting in a pixellated look. The specs are very low, Antutu benchmark reports 200MHz for the processor and 265 MB RAM, with those specs I'm surprised it runs Android 2.2 as smoothly as it does. It's not super-smooth but it runs, and I haven't experienced any annoying lag yet.

For me it works because I need to have 3 SIM cards running at any one time. My main line uses a more powerful android handset while my 2 roaming cards are now handled by this phone. My criteria were android (so that my contacts would sync) and dual sim. This was the only phone I found that matched those criteria.

I too strugled during initial stage, ( contacts transfer from nokia to Bee 7100). Instruction Manual is useless. But when everthing streamlined by myself, Wow it is excellent. If anyone don't want their unit it I am ready to buy it. My friends are looking for it because of its facilities but not available in saudi market

i recently purchased Bee 7100 but without a decent operating manual it is difficult to even remove the cover to install the battery and sim card. i hope the company would consider adding graphics of removing the cover and installing the battery.

I have the same difficulty getting the phone started. The manual says push the back cover above the battery which i did but it is not coming out. i had a similar phone from china and the same does not have complete manual and broke the cover by forcing it out. The Bee 7100 which is affordable and I like the features but can not use it up to now. I still need someone to show me how to push out the cover...

I just purchased a Bee 7100 Android. So far its been working great. The box had a full manual from the manufacturer. My husband installed Skype, Youtube, Facebook. Realplayer works great. The camera is fantastic. I took a photo while we were driving and at the moment I snapped a photo my husband had gone around a detour, not the softest ride but the photo came out so beautiful, it was very clear. I only problem is trying to download whatsapp onto it. If you know how please let me know. It is a android using the Google Froyo 2.2. I was told its really good as I owned Galaxy Tab and iPhone before, both being too heavy for my health purposes. I can recommend this little phone, I am really surprised at all its functions.
