Though fan controllers aren't necessarily the most heavily used of hardware products, it seems they are popular enough for Aerocool to develop one that sacrifices dials and buttons in favor of touch inputs, a new member in the Strike-X series.

Fan controllers are mostly used when one seeks to have full control over the fans inside the chassis, thus managing not just cooling prowess, but also sound output and energy use.

The market for fan controllers is mostly restricted to the enthusiast market, since those are the users that have systems with enough spinners for one to be required.

As such, considering that enthusiasts usually have all the money they need, the actual price point is less relevant than it would be for mainstream or entry-level end-users.

Aerocool may have played this card when it created the latest Strike-X series product, a dual-bay 5.25-inch fan controller with a touch panel instead of buttons or dials.

Basically, this product takes up the space of two 5.25-inch bays, which are usually employed by optical disk drives, and provides five fan channels.

Each of those channels provides 8W of power, making it quite easy for owners to tune up or turn down the rotary speeds of their cooling solutions whenever they need.

What's more, the product even has an overheating alarm, so that customers may more easily prevent inadvertent damage to their systems.

Finally, even though its primary purpose is to manage cooling, the newcomer features a pair of audio jacks, as well as two USB 2.0 ports.

The product, according to the report that revealed its existence, will be sold in two versions, one colored red and another one in black.

The exact availability date has not been specified, but actual shipments should not take long to commence.

As for pricing, the report states that both models are supposedly already available for pre-order at 50.28 Euro.
