Apricorn’s encrypted external drive can reach higher transfer speeds

Now that USB 3.0 is more popular than ever before, Apricorn has decided that it’s just about time to update its encrypted hard drive to support this interface.

As you can see from the enclosed video, the Aegis Padlock drives have a number pad on the outside to secure your data with a PIN number.

Without this PIN, the external drive won’t be recognized by the host computer, so the info stored is safe from prying eyes.

Up to five PIN numbers can be assigned to just as many users, while the data that is written on the Aegis Padlock is protected using 256 bit AES-XT hardware encryption.

The drives are available with capacities ranging from 1TB to 3TB, while prices start at $239 (180 EUR) and go all the way up to $369 (277 EUR).
