Advanced Codecs for Windows 7 and 8 remains a popular choice for those running Microsoft’s latest operating system, so updates are very important for lots of users out there.

A new version released this morning comes to update LAV filters to version 58.2+ and Gabest filters to build number 3603.

In addition, the Advanced Codecs for Windows 7 and 8 4.2.9 adds support for H265 and VP9 formats, according to the official release notes.

As you could easily figure out by simply reading the program name, the codec pack is mostly aimed at Windows 7 and 8 users, but we can now confirm that it works like a charm on Windows 8.1 too. Both 32- and 64-bit of Microsoft’s operating systems are now supported.
