And there I was thinking today was going to be a dull news day! But no, apparently it's never a good idea to underestimate the mighty Internet, or the silly choices of many celebrities out there. So, here comes the shocker - and you'd be well advised to sit down and take a few deep breaths before reading on. Adriana Lima is apparently the latest big celebrity name to join the growing list of sex tape protagonists. I know most of you will probably start laughing just about now and start saying things such as "she claims to be a virgin", "she's a devout Catholic and doesn't believe in sex before marriage" and so on. Yes, I know the drill - but you also know that in this day and age, nothing is what it seems, and while the whole "benefit of the doubt" principle is something we should take into account, it's imperfect - much like all things human.
The fact is, this little video is currently doing the rounds on the Internet, and the big question is, is this really Adriana, the picture-perfect, racy Victoria's Secret model? One thing that I have to mention is that in most virtual communities, there's quite a buzz that it really is Adriana doing the nasty on tape. The quality of the tape is not very good, as you can see for yourselves (if you care enough to look for it) and the video is obviously shot by a camera man, which may mean it was all a staged shoot and not an authentic sex tape, in which the protagonist doesn't know he or she is being filmed.
But as far as I can tell, that argument is not very solid - as there were plenty of home-made celebrity sex tapes shot with both partners' consent, which were meant to be kept private and which eventually made it to the Internet. So watch it and make up your own mind, and then if you're still not convinced have a look at this (much more documented and very pertinent) set of opinions expressed by someone who's taken a lot more time than I have to consider Adriana and just how likely it is that she really had sex on tape.
In my opinion, the girl in the video sure looks a lot like Adriana (I had to watch, you see, for purely... ahem, educative and professional purposes) and I wouldn't be surprised if it really were her. I know, it may sound outrageous, but take a second to consider this - there are a million circumstances in which this video could have been taped - and I don't have to tell you too much about the glamorous supermodel lifestyle (involving a lot of booze and drugs, to be more specific), because that much is common knowledge. In any case, if this really is Adriana, she'll have to possibly reconsider her career as a supermodel - as I think going the porn route is a solid option. Maybe not as well-paid... but hey, ever since Jenna Jameson quit I heard there was an opening for "Division Chief" in the "Successful Sex Tapes" department.
