The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is now home to an adorable male prehensile-tailed porcupette. Keepers say that, despite hitting a rough patch shortly after birth, the baby porcupine is doing great and growing stronger every day.

It still drinks milk, but carrots, sweet potatoes and other veggies have also been introduced in its diet.

Zoo Borns details that, not long after giving birth to it, the porcupette's mom, Emma, stopped feeding it and looking after it. Zoo keepers are still not sure why this happened.

Despite being abandoned by its parents, the baby porcupine managed to survive thanks to caretakers at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, who took it under their wing, fed it and made sure that it got everything its needed or wanted.

On October 30, the porcupette was reintroduced to its parents. This time, the latter accepted it and showed interest in taking care of it. However, staff are still keeping a close eye on the family, just in case things take an unexpected turn.
