Only two weeks old, these funny-looking creatures are a rare breed of pigs

About two weeks ago, the Whauphill Farm in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland witnessed the birth of some very weird-looking piglets.

To cut a long story short, all of the piglets belonging to this litter are covered up in wrinkles, and should one be completely honest, one would have to admit that they resemble a Shar Pei much more than they resemble their closer relatives.

Out of the total of eight wrinkled piglets, seven are girls and one is a boy.

Linda McDonald-Brown and her husband Graham explain that these are in fact Meishan piglets and that it has been nearly 30 years since the last of their kind was born in the UK.

“We went across to Holland to stay with a friend who also breeds pigs. We didn’t set out with the intention of buying anything but when I saw them I just fell in love with them and bought two sows then and there and later a boar,” the couple told members of the press.

Apparently, Linda and Graham's intention is to set up a UK pedigree line for this peculiar type of pigs.
