Only a few days ago, on September 29, a female Pampas deer at the M’Bopicuá wildlife park in Uruguay gave birth to an adorable fawn.

The baby Pampas deer, pictured above, is a female. Keepers say that, as far as they can tell, her mom is doing a great job looking after her. Thus, she regularly nurses her offspring, and makes sure she doesn't get into any serious trouble.

Zoo Borns tells us that Pampas deer are presently considered a threatened species in Uruguay. What's more, conservationists say that, over the past century, this species has lost nearly 99% of its natural habitat in South America.

Hence the fact that these deer can now only be seen in remote areas in Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay.

Once she reaches maturity, the fawn born at the M’Bopicuá wildlife park will either be entered into a breeding program, or be released into the wild.
