In early January, staff at Reid Park Zoo in Tucson Arizona announced that a female lioness had delivered five cubs. As reported at that time, just four of these baby lions survived.

Recent news on the topic says that, thanks to all the love and attention (plus loads of food) they are getting from their mom, Kaya, and from their caretakers, these four rascals are growing stronger each day.

The baby lions, three males and a female, are now about six weeks old, and it was this past February 3 when they underwent their most recent checkup, Zoo Borns reports.

Although one of the cubs had some trouble putting on weight at first, it would appear that this is no longer an issue. On the contrary, the baby lions are all getting plumper at a steady pace.

The cubs are not yet on public display but, judging by how fast they are growing and building up character, it will probably not be long before they make their public debut.
