On Tuesday, October 8, 2013, Adobe will release security updates for Adobe Reader and Acrobat XI (11.0.04) to address a critical vulnerability.

No additional details have been made available, but it appears that only the Windows variants of Adobe Reader XI and Adobe Acrobat XI are impacted.

The announcement came just before the company admitted suffering a data breach as a result of which the details of 2.9 million customers and source code were stolen.

According to Adobe, some Acrobat source code was stolen by the cybercriminals. However, the company says it’s not aware of any specific increased risks to customers as a result of the incident.

This means that the vulnerability that they’re planning to fix in Reader and Acrobat most likely doesn’t have anything to do with the data breach.
