Adobe and Microsoft will release security updates for their products on May 13. Adobe will publish updates for Acrobat and Reader, while Microsoft will fix vulnerabilities in Windows, Internet Explorer, Office and server software.

Adobe’s updates will address security holes in Reader and Acrobat 11.0.06 and earlier 11.x versions, and Reader and Acrobat 10.1.9 and earlier 10.x versions. The patches are for both Windows and Macintosh.

The vulnerabilities fixed with this series of updates are rated as critical, with a priority rating of 1. According to the company, this means that “the update resolves vulnerabilities being targeted, or which have a higher risk of being targeted, by exploit(s) in the wild for a given product version and platform.”

Users are advised to update their installations as soon as possible.

In January, Adobe updated Reader and Acrobat to address three security holes that could have led to code execution.

As far as Microsoft is concerned, the company is preparing a total of eight bulletins, two of which are rated as critical and could lead to remote code execution. These two bulletins are for Windows, Internet Explorer, server software and productivity software.

The other six bulletins are rated as “important.” They address remote code execution, privilege elevation, denial-of-service (DOS) and security feature bypass issues.
