Adobe Reader and Acrobat are some of the most popular applications on the internet, because they were the first programs that included support for viewing the PDF files with ease.
Today, some companies reported bugs that may crash the applications but Adobe said they are investigating the issue and will release a patch soon.
"Adobe is aware of a recently published report of potential vulnerabilities in Adobe Reader and Acrobat. These vulnerabilities
would cause the application to crash and could potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system," Adobe said in statement.
It seems like the versions affected by the bugs are: Adobe Reader 7.0.0 through 7.0.8 and Adobe Acrobat Standard and Professional 7.0.0 through 7.0.8 and the error appears when the user tries to view PDF content into Internet Explorer.
"The bugs are caused due to errors in the AcroPDF ActiveX control (AcroPDF.dll) when processing arbitrary arguments passed to the "setPageMode()", "setLayoutMode()", "setNamedDest()", and "LoadFile()" methods," Secunia detailed the vulnerability. The security company also said that Adobe recommendation is to delete the AcroPDF.dll file that enables users to run PDF document in Internet Explorer.
So, while Adobe is investigating the bug, don't ask yourself why the application is continuously crashing and check
this website periodically to know when will the company release a patch to fix the flaw.
