Linux's increased adoption rate has determined Adobe to launch a version of the Adobe Reader for this operating system. According to company officials' statements, more and more clients have began to request a Linux version for the Adobe Reader and in the end, Adobe agreed.

The Linux version for Adobe Reader is already available for download on the Adobe site and in this way, the program has versions for all operating systems.

If Adobe Reader 5 had a version for Linux, the Adobe Reader 6.0, launched in 2003 didn't.

Meanwhile, Adobe convinced itself by Linux's potential and in 2004, it joined a consortium whose role is the promoting of open source software.

Even though there are no Linux version for Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign, Adobe has started to recruit personnel for the open source domain and Adobe Reader 7.0 is the result of this effort.

Novell was delighted with the launching of this new product and declared that intends to collaborate with Adobe to develop applications designed for companies.

RedHat also believes that the Linux version of Adobe Reader will be received with enthusiasm, managing and distributing documents within the company being much easier now.
