Adobe released the 11.6.4.634 variant of Shockwave Player to patch a number of nine security holes that were identified in the previous versions of the product, for both Windows and Mac operating systems.

If exploited, the vulnerabilities could allow an attacker to execute malicious code on the affected system, which is why Adobe recommends that users immediately update to the latest version.

The issues were mainly caused by memory corruption vulnerabilities in the Shockwave 3D Asset and a heap overflow vulnerability, all of which may have permitted an attacker to take control of a device.

The company also released a security update for RoboHelp for Word after an important flaw was identified in the 8 and 9 variants of the product.

The weakness allowed a hacker to launch a cross-site scripting (XSS) attack in a web-based output by using a specially crafted URL. Adobe Shockwave Player 11.6.4.634 is available for download here
