Adobe has officially unveiled its CS6 suite for Mac and Windows, confirming a couple of Mac-specific enhancements, such as 64-bit support and OpenCL compatibility for customers employing the Mercury Playback Engine.

Production Premium CS6 is said to push boundaries of video creativity, having been redesigned by and for video editors.

Major performance enhancements are to be had thanks to the tools included in Adobe Creative Suite 6 Production Premium, which set a new standard in professional video.

Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 features dozens of new features that make it “the hub of any professional video workflow, featuring a sleek new editing environment,” Adobe said, adding that “the powerful Adobe Mercury Playback Engine now supports OpenCL on MacBook Pros.”

Adobe further informs Illustrator CS6 users that there’s a revamped modern interface, a new image tracing engine, pattern creation, and the ability to apply gradients to strokes.

“The Mercury Performance System delivers speed and stability, including 64-bit support for Mac OS and Windows,” according to the Flash makers.

And how could we forget that Adobe also announced its Creative Cloud product, which offers online storage, versioning and sharing, as well as a Master Collection of applications, all for just $29.99 a month (€23) for the first year for customers updating from any version of Adobe CS3+.

“The urge to be creative is universal, and harnessing the creative spark – in everyone from school children to creative pros – has never been more important,” said Shantanu Narayen, president and chief executive officer, Adobe. “Wherever and whenever inspiration strikes, Adobe will be there to help capture, refine and publish your ideas.”

Adobe also confirmed that Creative Cloud members will be able to deliver mobile apps to the iOS platform, as well as publish, manage and host websites.
