The new update brings additional raw support, lens profile support and bug fixes

Adobe has recently launched a whole bunch of new stuff for Creative Cloud users and among them arrives Lightroom 5.5 (a desktop version for both Windows and Mac).

Lightroom is a service that can be acquired both via a Creative Cloud subscription and by purchasing the traditional license.

Before we move on and tell you the story of what’s new in Lightroom 5.5, it should also be mentioned that the newcomers won’t be visible in the Lightroom interface, but the app will support the new function if a file edited with Camera Raw 8.5 is imported into Lightroom.

So let’s get down to business. As you might expect with such an update, Lightroom adds support for a bunch of new cameras including the Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark II, Fujifilm FinePix S1, Nikon 1 J4, Nikon 1 S2, Nikon V3, Olympus OM-D E-M10, Panasonic DMC-GH4, Pentax 645z, Samsung NX3000, Sony DSC-RX100 III, Sony A7s (ILCE-7S) and Sony Alpha SLT-A77 II (ILCA-77M2).

Support for a whole lot of new lenses has also been added and it now includes the Sigma 50m F1.4 DG HSM A014, Fujifilm Tele Conversion Lens TCL-X100 and Nikon 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f3.5-5.6 PD-ZOOM but there’s more where that came from (check the complete list in the download section).

Now comes the part where Fuji X-T1 users should pay extra attention, because the update comes to fix a number of annoying problems you might have encountered.

Owners of the camera mentioned above might have been experiencing problems with raw images appearing too bright at high ISO settings when using Dynamic Range 200% and 400%.

The update should fix this issue, but be advised that it could also bring about a side-effect: the altered appearance of existing images that have been captured using the above scenario.

Another problem that has been squashed relates to the inability to read lossless compressed Nikon raw files (NEF files) from cameras like Nikon D1, D1H, D1X, D2H or D100. In order to see the difference, you’ll need to purge the Camera Raw cache via Preferences dialog.

The update solves the image flips between portrait and landscape after switching orientation when shooting tethered for owners of Leica S cameras.

The bug-killing journal also includes: undo fiction failed and applied a present instead, scaling down looking inaccurate when scaling to 200% in Windows, manual slideshow sometimes didn't advance to the next slide as expected or Custom Develop model default setting were not syncing correctly to Lightroom mobile.

If you think you might benefit from these changes, you can go ahead and download Lightloom 5.5 right from Softpedia.
