Adobe Photoshop Touch, the flagship app unveiled by Adobe today, brings the creative and image-editing power of Photoshop to the iPad for the first time.

The standalone Adobe Touch Apps are part of the Adobe Creative Cloud, a major new initiative also by the Flash makers. Creative Cloud will become a hub for al users of these new tablet apps, allowing them to also access desktop applications, find essential creative services, and share their work.

According to the company, files created with the Touch apps can be shared and viewed across various platforms.

Creatives will be able to export them into the full-fledged Adobe Creative Suite software for further polishing up.

“Adobe Touch Apps deliver high-impact creative expression to anyone who has a tablet,” said Kevin Lynch, chief technology officer, Adobe. “With Adobe imaging magic coming to tablet devices, new apps like Photoshop Touch will open your mind about the potential of the touch interface for creativity and demonstrate that tablets are an essential part of anyone’s creative arsenal.”

All but one of the apps (Ideas, which is immediately available) will arrive next year in the iTunes App Store for iPad users.
