Adobe has announced the Photoshop Touch Software Development Kit that allows developers to create iPad sidekick apps for the new Adobe Photoshop CS5, as well as three new applications that already leverage the technology.

The in-house-developed apps - Adobe Eazel, Adobe Nav, and Adobe Color Lava - will be released next month (early May, the Flash makers said) and they will be priced in the $1.99 - $4.99 range.

Adobe Eazel lets artists paint on the iPad’s screen using their fingertips.

“Paint across your entire iPad screen, and easily access the tools you need. Send your artwork directly to Photoshop CS5 from any location—all you need is a network connection between your iPad and computer. Or do all your painting in the app, and share via email,” the description reads.

Adobe Nav needs a network connection between your iPad and the computer. You can customize your Photoshop CS5 toolbar on the iPad and easily access the tools you use most frequently.

“Browse, reorder, view, and zoom in on up to 200 open Photoshop documents on iPad. Tap a document on iPad to make it the active document in Photoshop CS5. Disconnect from the network and use iPad to easily share files in person with others,” explains Adobe.

Adobe Color Lava comes in handy when you need to create custom swatches and five-swatch themes, by allowing you to mix colors using your fingertips like brushes on a palette.

Also accessible from Photoshop CS5, the app is to be used “wherever inspiration strikes, and then bring your colors into Photoshop CS5 when you're connected.”
