Mac users running Adobe's popular InDesign software on the newest MacBook Pros and MacBook Airs are experiencing system crashes on OS X 10.7.4, the latest version of Apple’s Lion operating system. The problem may also be caused by a specific software update.

Complaints are piling up in a forum thread over at Adobe, with multiple users of InDesign reporting crashes in various instances, for example when trying to delete a page that has content, or when packaging a file.

The culprit seems to be the “MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) Software Update,” but it also seems OS X 10.7.4 removes an API Adobe uses to control use of system icons. According to Adobe technical support employee Scott Worthington, “At present the solution appears to be to rollback the update for the software to continue to function as expected.”
