Adobe Ideas, a digital sketchbook that allows iDevice owners to capture and explore ideas anywhere they go, has been promoted to version 1.2. Adobe Ideas 1.2 is a free download from Apple’s iTunes App Store.

For those who are already familiar with the software, we’ll get right to the point, as in the newly added functionality.

For starters, Adobe Ideas 1.2 brings New Layers functionality, a premium feature that permits the creation of 10 drawing layers plus a photo layer for each sketch.

Users can control the order and opacity for each layer while the new Layers Move tool offers move, scale and rotate for each layer.

The updated app gains a huge performance improvement to zooming and panning, and VGA Out support, which enables users to connect the iPhone or iPad to an external display or projector to show sketch content real-time (requires Apple VGA adapter).

A Left/Right toolbar setting has been added, in order to permit the customization of the location of the toolbar.

Last, but not least, Adobe Ideas 1.2 brings improved stroke smoothing.

“Adobe Ideas is your digital sketchbook, letting you capture and explore ideas anywhere you go,” the developer states in the app’s official iTunes description.

“Sketch design concepts while sitting in a cafe, capture and store color themes while browsing through the photos on your phone, or jot down notes on a photo. Any time you need to explore creative ideas, Adobe Ideas is there with you.”

The app is touted as an ideal companion for Adobe’s professional design applications Illustrator and Photoshop.

Now with a new in-app purchase option, customers can get up to 10 drawing layers plus a photo layer for each sketch as well as layer transformations - move, rotate and scale each layer, the Flash makers note.
