Adobe has just rolled out an improved beta version of Flash Player that allows users running any of the supported platforms to try out the feature lineup of the next stable release before it hits the market.

Adobe Flash Player 14.0.0.95 Beta, which is mostly a version that's more appropriate for developers and experienced users who need to update their apps to work with the upcoming release as soon as possible, brings a number of fixes and improvements supposed to make Flash Player 14 run smoother on all platforms.

According to the official release notes, the video player on some websites no longer crashes, while Internet Explorer 11 should now be able to render Adobe Flash Player content without any other glitch.

Of course, do not forget that this is still a beta development version, so in case you don't have the necessary time to diagnose bugs and fix performance issues, you should really stick to the stable build that's also available for download from Softpedia.

On a separate front, Adobe is still working to improve the security of Flash Player, so the company recently rolled out a major update for the stable build that was affected by a critical vulnerability exposing all supported platforms.

Adobe confirmed that some attacks have already been launched against Windows users, so patching Flash Player and updating to the latest stable build was mandatory for everyone using a PC running Microsoft's operating system.

“Adobe is aware of reports that an exploit for CVE-2014-0515 exists in the wild, and is being used to target Flash Player users on the Windows platform. Adobe recommends users update their product installations to the latest versions,” Adobe explained in a press statement.

The company said that the affected versions including Adobe Flash Player 13.0.0.182 and earlier versions for Windows, Adobe Flash Player 13.0.0.201 and earlier versions for Macintosh, and Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.350 and earlier versions for Linux.

The new beta is obviously protected against attacks coming on any supported platforms, but computers running the older versions should be upgraded to the latest stable build as soon as possible.

“Adobe recommends users of Adobe Flash Player 13.0.0.182 and earlier versions for Windows update to the newest version 13.0.0.206 by downloading it from the Adobe Flash Player Download Center, or via the update mechanism within the product when prompted,” Adobe said.

In the end, this new update could clearly come in handy to many users, so download Adobe Flash Player 14.0.0.95 Beta right now to see what it brings new.
