Adobe today rolled out a new version of Flash Player that comes with security improvements for all supported platforms, thus patching some of the recently found flaws in the software which could expose users browsing the web and loading Flash content.

While no release notes are available right now, Adobe Flash Player 14.0.0.145 is mostly supposed to bring security improvements, as the parent company rolls out new builds of its software every second Tuesday of each month.

Adobe recently matched its security release cycle with Microsoft, which means that both companies are rolling out security fixes for their products during the same day.

As you know, Microsoft uses the second Tuesday of each month for its famous Patch Tuesday rollout, which includes fixes and security updates for the majority of its products that are said to be vulnerable to attacks due to various issues.

Starting with Internet Explorer 10, Microsoft has decided to implement Flash Player directly into the browser, so the software giant is patching the software directly through Windows Update when it also rolls out the other fixes for its applications on Patch Tuesday.

And synchronizing security fixes rollouts is clearly a good thing for everyone in the industry, security experts said, mostly because of all patches can be deployed during the same day, without losing too much time to deploy the updates manually for each product.

"Concentrating updates on a single day is a benefit for any organization that manages patch roll-outs," said Wolfgang Kandek, CTO of Qualys, said after Adobe officially announced that it switches to a Patch Tuesday-like security update rollout. "That way the update can be handled by the same decision process, which should streamline roll-outs and get Flash updates [installed] more widely."

Today’s release can obviously be deployed by Windows users, regardless of the browser they are running right now on their computers. Internet Explorer users, on the other hand, need to wait for a few more hours until Microsoft officially starts the patching process of its software, with the new Flash Player version to be also shipped via Windows Update.

Since it comes with security improvements, the new version should be deployed by everyone out there, so go ahead and download Adobe Flash Player 14.0.0.145 to make sure that you’re perfectly secure when browsing the web. Existing Flash Player users will also be notified of the update when rebooting their computers in order to get the new version too.
