Good news is coming this week to photography enthusiasts, as Adobe has announced the Camera Raw 8.5 Release Candidates, which adds support for five new digital cameras and a whole bunch of new lenses.

The new plug-in release now brings support for the Panasonic Lumix GH4, Olympus OM-D E-M10, Canon Powershoot G1 X Mark II, Fujifilm FinePix S1 and Nikon 1 V3 and 1 J4 duo of mirrorless cameras.

So what this means is that if you’re an owner of one of these cameras outlined above, you’ll be able to perform edit on RAW image files natively in Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop Creative Cloud.

Even if the update is still an early release candidate, it will confer this particular feature, some photographers have been drooling over for some time.

Albeit this being good news, we’ll still have to wait a little bit longer for the update to arrive on Lightroom. Also note, the update is not officially supported on Mac OS 10.6.x (Snow Leopard), Windows XP and Windows Vista.

Now going back to the positive updates you’re going to be noticing in your life thanks to the new plung-in. For example, from now on users of the five cameras outlined above will be able to apply graduated and radial filter marks with a brush.

More than that, mask visualization allows graduated and radial Filters, plus freshly added per-panel preview default toggle.

Like with any update, this one comes packed with a host of bug fixes like taking care of the Fujifilm X-T1 raw images appearing too bright at high ISO settings when using Dynamic Range 200% and 400%. Moreover, the following lens profiles that have been now married to the Camera Raw 8.5 RC.
