Good news for AIR developers, as Adobe has just announced that the latest update brings support for x86-based Android devices. The latest version of Adobe AIR will feature support for packaging of AIR apps for all Intel x86 based smartphones and tablets powered by Google’s Android platform.

According to the developers, the new feature will “allow AIR developers to directly target the x86 Android platform, providing the best performance possible from their AIR applications.”

The new feature has been confirmed to support packaging of apps in both shared and captive modes. Adobe has also announced that the AIR Runtime app with x86 support will be available for download via Google Play Store and has promised that it will offer regular updates in sync with other supported platforms.

With the latest update for AIR, Adobe enables developers to reach even more devices across the world with their applications, by adding support for Intel x86-based smartphones and tablets.

The latest version of Adobe AIR for Android is rolled out in the Google Play store in stages, so it might not show on your device immediately. If you already have it installed, you should be notified of the updates soon. Stay tuned for more details on future Adobe AIR updates.
