Adium 1.3.4 Patches Facebook Bugs – Download Here

Adium, the popular IM app for Mac OS X, has received an important update, mostly delivering Facebook fixes. Adium replicates many of the features (and the look) of Apple's own IM client, iChat, and combines an array of IM protocols.

According to the changelog for Adium 1.3.4, Facebook fixes include:

· Updated to pidgin-facebook 1.5.0, fixing a major bug in which massive amounts of data could be continuously sent and received under certain situations as well as several minor bugs;
· Fixed a bug in which the Facebook numeric ID rather than name could be shown in the contact list;

· Improved proxy support;
· Fixed a crash when loading Jabber/XMPP account preferences when the computer's host name is not set;
· Fixed a display issue in message windows when running Safari 4;
· Updated to libpurple 2.5.6.

As noted above, Adium combines numerous IM protocols. Those comprise the AOL Instant Messenger (including ICQ and .Mac), Jabber (including Google Talk), MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, Novell Groupwise and Lotus Sametime. The IM client also gives users the possibility to connect with multiple types of accounts at the same time, combining all their friend groups into one big list. Supported buddy icons comprise AIM, MSN, and Yahoo!. Adium has a customizable appearance as well.

To customize the app even more, users may also want to look into GameBoy Sounds for Adium, an application developed by Nadim Kobeissi that replaces Adium's standard soundset for a number of events.

When it was initially released, Adium 1.3 added a slew of new features and enhancements, including a complete redesign of the Contact Inspector (formerly, the Get Info Window), a Facebook Chat service, a search field to the Standard Contact List window, and more.
