14 DAY TRIAL // Adele and her father, Mark Evans, have not spoken to each other since a fight in 2011 forced her to cut all contact with him. Presumably desperate to get back in touch, Mr. Evans is now speaking to the press – and putting his daughter on blast instead.
Evans tells the Daily Mail that he’s nearly run out of ideas about ways to get in touch with his estranged daughter.
He’s already called her a number of times and even dropped by her record label to see if he could get someone to introduce him to her, but all his efforts have been in vain.
Adele is determined to keep him at arm’s length. She even refused to break the news to him that he was about to be a grandfather when she learned that she was pregnant with her first child.
“I’ve left messages on her phone, I’ve written to her and I’ve sent her birthday and Christmas cards but it’s like I’m dead to her,” Evans laments to the Daily Mail.
He insists his heart is in the right place, that he isn’t just looking to make a quick buck off his daughter’s back.
“I’m not interested in her celebrity status or her money, I just want my daughter back and I want to be a proper grandad to the little one,” he adds.
Speaking of the little one, Evans vouches he’s shocked that Adele didn’t name her son after him.
“Not only did I hear I was going to be a grandad for the first time via the media, I found out the same way that she’s calling the baby Angelo James. I’d hoped so much that she’d put my late dad’s name, John, in there somewhere, but alas it looks as if it is not going to be,” he says for the same publication.
“I’m not sure why she’s chosen James, other than a reference to James Bond, and God alone knows where Angelo has come from. It’s very LA, isn’t it? If only she’d called him John. That would have meant so much to me – and to Dad, God bless him,” the singer’s father further says.
Adele has opted to cut her father out of her life after he spoke to the press about her love life and sad childhood in a 2011 interview. He claims that they were supposed to do the interview together, so he thought she wouldn’t mind if he went through with it alone.
