Adele refuses to replace Cheryl Cole as the new face of L'Oreal Cosmetics

Adele was in the middle of negotiations with French cosmetics company L'Oreal when she decided to turn down the offer without any given reason. The 25-year-old singer was supposed to replace Cheryl Cole under a deal worth $19 (€22) million.

The Oscar winning singer was negotiating with the cosmetics brand a potential contract that would have brought her alongside L'Oreal celebrities Penelope Cruz, Eva Longoria and Jennifer Lopez.

Despite the progress made in negotiations, Adele backed out without giving the company any reason.

L'Oreal was almost sure that the deal was going to happen, but the singer changed her mind overnight. The company “is gobsmacked that she turned down such a huge amount,” a source tells People Magazine.

Taking into consideration the fact that Adele's fortune exceeds $56 (€42) million, some might argue that it is not such a big surprise that she can drop a deal like L'Oreal overnight. The contract with Adele meant the replacement of Cheryl Cole, L'Oreal ambassador since 2009, whose deal was almost $800,000 (€600,000) a year, according to DailyMail.

L'Oreal decided to drop Cheryl because of her constant hair color changes and the enormous tattoo she just got done earlier this year. Even if Cheryl's presence brought a boost in sales, her constant changes were not accepted by the company.

Adele is known for her strong opinions when it comes to using her name or her face as a marketing tool. “I don't want my name anywhere near another brand, I don't wanna be tainted or haunted. I think it's shameful when you sell out,” she said back in 2011.

Maybe she had a change of heart since 2011, and the refusal is just a case of cold feet.
