In a ceremony that took place today, December 19, British singer Adele has received her MBE title at the Buckingham Palace. The decision was taken based on the profound impact Adele has had on the international music industry.

Adele's latest album, “21,” was recently named best-selling of all time by Amazon. Recent figures show the “Rolling in the Deep” singer moved 28 million copies worldwide. That would explain why the British royal family wanted to invite her for a little chat.

Adele described the ceremony as a “very posh” affair. She looked rather nervous waiting in line to receive her title as a man's voice announced “Miss Adele Atkins, for services to music.” She was greeted by Prince Charles who took the time to chat with her for a minute, although it's not known what they discussed. By this point she was all smiles in her Stella McCartney long-sleeved tea dress.

The 25-year-old singer was clearly delighted by her achievement, as her smile widened to an ear-to-ear grin by the time she shook hands with the Prince and left, with the title pinned to her chest. She is quoted as saying after the ceremony that “It was an honor to be recognized and a very proud moment to be awarded alongside such wonderful and inspirational people.”
