Star's Grammy night ruined by obnoxious suggestion she needs to lose weight

At the 2012 Grammy Awards, Adele was the star of the night, taking home no less than 6 awards, including those in the major categories. There was just one thing, though, that marred the experience for her: the suggestion that she needed to lose weight.

As it must be common knowledge by now, Jennifer Hudson, Oscar-winning actress and singer, has lost a lot of weight since she broke in the spotlight, mostly thanks to a collaboration with Weight Watchers.

Jennifer and Adele crossed paths at the Grammys and the former mistakenly thought she had common ground with the latter in the desire to shed the extra pounds, the latest print issue of The Enquirer says (story via here).

In doing so, she managed to upset Adele and almost ruin her night, especially since the Brit has always been very outspoken about how happy she is with her current weight and how, as such, she has no intention of going on a diet.

“The first thing Jennifer Hudson did when she ran into Adele backstage at the Grammys was congratulate her on her impressive haul. The second thing she did was offer weight-loss tips, which annoyed Adele. Hudson, a Weight Watchers spokesperson, pulled Adele aside at the Grammys and offered to be her fat-fighting mentor!” the tab writes.

Sources who happened to overhear the entire conversation say that Adele was quite shocked to hear Jennifer suggest to her she was too heavy and that she needed to do something about it – and pronto.

“Jennifer congratulated Adele on her six trophies but then added, 'I used to be heavy just like you and gosh, Weight Watchers saved my life! I can hook you up',” says one such spy about how it all went down.

Adele tried to be graceful about it, letting Jennifer know that she didn't feel she needed Weight Watchers at the time – or anytime soon, for that matter – but, deep down inside, she was “seething.”

According to another tipster, this isn't the first time that Jennifer puts herself in such a delicate position either, especially since her useful “tips” could also be motivated by jealousy as well.

“Her heart is in the right place, but her preaching is starting to get on people’s nerves. I’m sure seeing Adele become the belle of the ball at the Grammys got under her skin,” the spy explains.

“Meanwhile, Adele has made it pretty clear she doesn’t care what Jennifer or anyone else thinks about her or her weight,” the insider concludes.
