14 DAY TRIAL // A new hardcore strategy game is set to hit iPhone and iPod touch, Armageddon. Developed by Meridian Digital Entertainment, the one behind the popular Alive 4-ever & Alive 4-ever RETURNS games, Armageddon is scheduled to hit the App Store for Apple iPhone and Apple iPod touch by mid-July.
The story puts the player in the role of a commander of units from Magnus, in a fight against Licinius. The latter is a tyrant who turned the country in a state of inhumane dictatorship with no care or interest for its people. As Licinius only cares about power and greed, your main task is to take control of your units and restore peace and order to your country.
As a commander, players will be able to control the flow of their own units, setting them to suit missions at hand, and ensuring that their own bases are secure or hard to conquer. The game consists of a customize commander system, unit against system, and a versus (2-player) system. Gamers will be able to change and equip different types of special moves that are obtained through “boss stages,” and a new special move, which will become available as each enemy boss is defeated at the end of each level.
The maximum amount of special moves you can achieve is 3, and survival bonuses and stage clear bonuses are awarded for excellent performance in commanding units. One such moves is the Starlight, which increases the commander's energy level by 1,000 points, while another useful special move is the Giant Bomber, which destroys a certain amount of units within a specific range.
The multiplayer system of the game seems to be unique and allows two players to battle each other through Wi-Fi or Bluetooth (requires Apple OS 3.0 or later). Other highlights of Armageddon include: 70 stages available to keep you busy; 8 special moves; 3 unique game modes; more than 40 achievements through OpenFeint Support; fabulous visual effects; incredible background music and realistic sound effects.
