Just as new info surfaced about the upcoming file sync and cloud storage service, based on Google Docs, in Google Search itself, we now have a way of actually enabling a Download Google Drive menu entry in Google Docs.
Granted, it doesn't do anything, it shows up in the menu, but it doesn't lead to any app behind it. Getting the menu item to show up takes a bit of work with Chrome's Developer Tools, it's not overly complicated, but it's not for everyone either.
If you really, really want to add this menu item, you can follow the steps
here (in Portuguese) or
here. There's no guarantee that this will work for very long.
With all of the other signs that have been piling up lately, it's clear that Google is getting close to unveiling its Dropbox killer. About time too since it had most of the elements already there in Docs for years.
