Google Talk tends to be one of the most used instant messaging clients because it provides a simple and fast way for chatting with other users of the application. The company wants to develop the application and make it a true VoIP client because Google Talk must challenge similar solutions designed by other companies.

As you may know, some time ago, Google implemented Google Talk into Gmail's interface, making it available for every user of the mail service. Now, you can talk with your Google Talk
friends directly from your mail account using a simple chat client.

All you need to do is to login into your Gmail account and use the chat that is located in the left part of the screen. If the service is disabled, you should go at the bottom of the website and click on the "Standard with chat" option to enable the client.

Gmail chat is similar to the Google Talk client, offering the same simplicity and functionality as the downloadable application. Although it is very simple to use, many users were disappointed because the mail chat doesn't include smileys or other features like any other messaging client.
All users of the Gmail chat should know that they can add smileys into their service by using a tiny Firefox extension with support for MSN, Yahoo and Gmail emoticons.

If you want to test GTalk Emoticons, you should download the extension from here and install it with your Firefox browser. Next time you'll login into your Gmail account, you should be able to chat with anybody using any smiley provided by the extension. You must know that the smiley you send in a message is visible only for your and for other users that installed the add-on. If you want to read more information about the product or to view all the supported emoticons, you should visit this page.
