As it was predicted a few days ago, popular ad-blocking software provider Adblock Plus has just released a new mobile browser for the Android platform.

Starting today, users looking to browse content without being spammed by countless annoying ads are invited to join a special Google+ community through which they will be granted access to an early beta version of the Adblock Browser for Android devices.

The browser is described as being able to block annoying ads automatically, while saving battery speed in the process and offering control over the viewed content.

The Adblock Browser team highlights a few important features that users will be able to benefit from if they use the application.

Why browsing with the Adblocking Browser?

First of all, the browser offers fast, efficient browsing. It’s a pretty well-known fact that web pages tend to load more slowly and can consume up to 23% more battery life when plagued with ads. Ad loading will also put a toll on your data plan and make you pay more.

Furthermore, given that malware will easily infiltrate ads, Adblock explains that by blocking them, the risk of infecting their devices is also lowered.

Interestingly, Adblock encourages users to discriminate between annoying ads and non-intrusive ones by allowing their display if the owner of the mobile device is willing to grant them access. Settings can be changed any time by simply tapping the Menu icon> Settings > Acceptable Ads.

So if you miss some advertising in your life, at least you can ensure you’ll be getting quality ads.

Adblock Browser wasn’t a project that was built from the ground up, as the team relied on the open source Firefox for Android browser to get things started. They then included Adblock Plus and disabled Sync and support for other add-ons.

The current browser is based on Firefox 37 for Android and the team plans to keep it updated as Mozilla reveals new versions. The browser comes equipped with a basic filter list (EasyList plus Acceptable Ads), in the vein of Adblock Plus on other platforms.

Adblock Plus didn't last much in the Google Play Store, as Google kicked it out along with other ad blocking apps back in 2013, so naturally, we hope Adblock Browser will have a longer, more prolific life cycle.
