Adam Sandler’s recent movies are no longer as successful as his earlier releases, and he’s topped several Worst Of lists, but that’s not stopping him from trying to get back in the saddle. Even Sony Pictures, which is releasing most of his work, is deeply unhappy with his performance, as last year’s Sony Hack revealed.

He will probably not be bouncing back with “The Ridiculous 6,” a comedy he’s written and stars in, now shooting for a 2015 release - not based on the negative buzz it’s been getting online.

A short while ago, production on the film was halted after a massive walk-out by Native American talent, deeming the story offensive to women and elders, but also disrespectful of the Apache culture. In response, Netflix said that the film was a comedy and that it aimed to highlight stereotypes so it could mock them.

That was before the video below emerged online, showing a group of Native Americans talking to producers and voicing their objections about the story. They’re told that if they’re “overly sensitive,” they can just walk out. Which they did, of course.

THR is now reporting that Sandler found a way around the predicament: if he can’t get real Native Americans to appear in his movie, he will “make” his own characters. Apparently, talent of various ethnicities, including Asian and black, are getting makeovers with makeup to appear Native American.

Sandler is yet to address the controversy in any way, but news of this latest development is already spreading fast online. If he wants to do some damage control, addressing the situation now would help.
