Former American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert recently taped a segment on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and, perhaps surprisingly, revealed that he doesn’t keep up to date with what’s going on on the latest season.

The full interview airs today, February 10 but, until it does, his fans only have these few quotes to go on, as provided by JustJared.

Apparently, Adam hasn’t yet started watching the show that put him on the map and helped him become one of the best-selling artists of today because he wants to wait until the number of contestants is narrowed down.

“I usually tune in when they get to Top 12,” he says. Of course, there’s also the fact that he would have to see the judges without Ellen DeGeneres, who only spent one season on the panel.

“I heard that it’s good. I’m going to miss you. I don’t know how I feel about that,” Adam tells Ellen.

He also admits that he’s a huge Steven Tyler fans, therefore has no doubt that he’s doing a great job on the panel – and says that, out of all people, Jennifer Lopez was definitely the right choice for judge.

“She’s been working in this industry forever. She really knows, I think,” he says.

Speaking of Steven Tyler, it would seem that the general belief is that he “saved” the show after Simon Cowell’s departure last year, a crucial moment for AI.

In fact, skeptics believed that, with a new panel of judges made of Tyler, Lopez and Randy Jackson, the show would eventually drop in ratings and fall into oblivion, because they couldn’t imagine how it would survive without Cowell.

As it turns out, not only has AI survived, but it’s also been steadily going up in ratings. More importantly, audiences have taken quite a liking for Steven, who’s seen as a major improvement from the “meanie” Cowell
