Though his performances on American Idol have all been met with raving reviews, after the AMA gig that many labeled “edgy” at best, or “disastrous” at worst, Adam Lambert has been on rather shaky ground with some music critics as regards his live performances, InLand SoCal says in a review of his Fantasy Springs concert. Yet, over the weekend, Adam proved just why he was so loved by millions of fans all over the world, putting on a show that was best described as “historic.”

As per the reviewer, before Lambert took on the stage to perform to the sold-out crowd, the sense of anticipation was similar to before seeing Elvis perform live. Indeed, as the screaming in the video below will also show, fans were eager to see their idol on stage doing what he did best: belt out songs and get hearts pumping. With vocals as awesome as his, it’s almost understandable for female fans to be screaming their lungs out whenever he smiles in their direction, which is precisely what seems to be happening in the clip below.

“Adam Lambert had a lot to live up to before his first solo show where fans could purchase tickets. Before the show at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio on Saturday night, some compared it to seeing Elvis Presley for the first time, that it was historic. Internet friends met for the first time in person, gathering for a pre-party dubbed the ‘Glamily Reunion’ or over pizza or Starbucks. With a devoted and rabid fan base, Lambert needed to impress,” the aforementioned e-zine says.

“Even though he didn’t go on until after 9 p.m. and played for about an hour, the eyeliner king of American Idol led his faithful to renditions of his songs off the debut CD, ‘For Your Entertainment’ as well as select covers, such as Tears for Fears’ ‘Mad World’ and an acoustic version of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Whole Lotta Love.’ His voice was at its best when he sang the ballads, reaching a chill-inducing moment during the second half of ‘Soaked.’ But the show was at its finest with dance party numbers such as ‘Down the Rabbit Hole’ and ‘Music Again’ as the glitter and sequin-covered crowd that ranged from young fans to those in their 80s,” the review further reads.

With this concert, Adam Lambert has proved – if proof was required of him in the first place – that he’s not just a fleeting “phenomenon” whose popularity can be explained by the American Idol success and by that alone, as some naysayers suggested these past weeks. With it, Adam has shown that he’s an entertainer to the core – and this is precisely what fans love him for.
