Though his performances on American Idol have all been met with raving reviews, after the AMA gig that many labeled “edgy” at best, or “disastrous” at worst, Adam Lambert has been on rather shaky ground with some music critics as regards his live performances, InLand SoCal says in a review of his Fantasy Springs concert. Yet, over the weekend, Adam proved just why he was so loved by millions of fans all over the world, putting on a show that was best described as “historic.”

As per the reviewer, before Lambert took on the stage to perform to the sold-out crowd, the sense of anticipation was similar to before seeing Elvis perform live. Indeed, as the screaming in the video below will also show, fans were eager to see their idol on stage doing what he did best: belt out songs and get hearts pumping. With vocals as awesome as his, it’s almost understandable for female fans to be screaming their lungs out whenever he smiles in their direction, which is precisely what seems to be happening in the clip below.

“Adam Lambert had a lot to live up to before his first solo show where fans could purchase tickets. Before the show at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio on Saturday night, some compared it to seeing Elvis Presley for the first time, that it was historic. Internet friends met for the first time in person, gathering for a pre-party dubbed the ‘Glamily Reunion’ or over pizza or Starbucks. With a devoted and rabid fan base, Lambert needed to impress,” the aforementioned e-zine says.

“Even though he didn’t go on until after 9 p.m. and played for about an hour, the eyeliner king of American Idol led his faithful to renditions of his songs off the debut CD, ‘For Your Entertainment’ as well as select covers, such as Tears for Fears’ ‘Mad World’ and an acoustic version of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Whole Lotta Love.’ His voice was at its best when he sang the ballads, reaching a chill-inducing moment during the second half of ‘Soaked.’ But the show was at its finest with dance party numbers such as ‘Down the Rabbit Hole’ and ‘Music Again’ as the glitter and sequin-covered crowd that ranged from young fans to those in their 80s,” the review further reads.

With this concert, Adam Lambert has proved – if proof was required of him in the first place – that he’s not just a fleeting “phenomenon” whose popularity can be explained by the American Idol success and by that alone, as some naysayers suggested these past weeks. With it, Adam has shown that he’s an entertainer to the core – and this is precisely what fans love him for.

This was not Adam's first solo concert in which fans could purchase tickets. Please check your facts before posting. You must not know anything about Adam Lambert if you don't know about his live concert at Gridlock on New Year's Eve. That was his first solo concert, and it was also excellent just as all of his live performances have been.

Sorry I missed it! I look forward to seeing Adam Lambert performing his music live on stage!

I was there. It was an awesome first solo show played to a packed house of fans from everywhere of all ages and sexes and orientations. Adam's vocals were amazing, his band tight and loose at the same time in the right combinations.

He is a consummate performer, playing to the crowd, giving and receiving in equal measure. I'm so glad I took time from my busy life to make it to this show. I will never forget it.

Oh here we go with another fictitious narrative. What "shaky performance"? All performances have met great reviews. Gridlock NYE. Rock My Town, Seacrest, VH1 Unplugged, I Heartradio. So try some actual REPORTING of the facts. When you don't know what you're talking about it's usually best to not talk about it. Then again, most bloggers would have to get a real job then. eyeroll.

Nice article. I totally agree that Adam is going to be around for a long time. He does has the IT factor, talent, looks, stage presence, love it all! I saw him at Fantasy Springs and I was completely thrilled and happy with it all! Adam was amazing! I cannot stress enough that if you can see him perform, do whatever it takes to do it cuz you will not be disappointed! I am going to see him every chance I can! Love him!

Hi Shannon. That is actually a quote you're referring to, taken from the review of the concert mentioned in the first paragraph as the inverted commas clearly show. Because of the massive interest in Adam (and also because I personally like his music), we also have covered his other live performances, as you will see in the links below:

Elena, I reread your article and you definately say that "Adam Lambert has been on rather shaky ground as regards his live performances," not in quotation marks, this is blatently untrue although the New York Times has been guilty of the same error.
His live performances have all been amazing since the AMA's and even the AMAs themselves have attracted him new fans as his vocals on that night were still better than most other current vocalists, Adam on a bad day is better than most people on a good day.
What your motivation is in trying to spread misinformation that Adam has performed poorly live is a mystery to me.

I was at the Fantasy concert, the vids are nothing compared to the real thing..I enjoyed this concert more than any I have been to. And I am equally glad that your article mentioned the nay sayers..excellent point. I have read comments on the comment pages of some articles saying his 15 min are up...well...I think his 15 years are just beginning. Adam has a voice that can not be compared ...also his Cd is really good, it went gold already. this is great too. I think it shows that his whole CD is great, not just one song. looking forward to his next concert in the U.S.

Very nice article. I just have to say, though that Adam has only had ONE "shaky" live performanc. And that was the AMAs. He's done a ton of live and recorded shows since then. I've been privileged to see several of them. The only thing that could be described as shaky would be the legs of the audience. LOL

I do agree that this Fantasy Springs show was historic. I was there, and I will remember it forever.

Thank you so much for your write up.

Actually, this Fantasy Springs concert WAS Adam's first solo concert...technically speaking. It was his gig and his gig alone, and other than his opener, only Adam and his band performed that night, unlike Gridlock.
I attended this "historic" event and, 4 days later, am still blown away by his talent and stage presence! Looking forward to attending another show and can't wait until his official tour starts. If you are unsure about Adam...see him live...you won't be disappointed!

Shanon, Yes it was Adam's first solo concert. It was announced as his first solo concert at the Fantasy Springs Resort anyway. Gridlock was not considered as a solo since there was two stages with a series of performances by a lists of different singers or bands. Adam was singing last on the Main stage after Kevin Rudolf, Leah Turner, Fanny Pak, Moi, and there was a DJ and a firework at the end to finish the program. So obviously it was not a "solo" concert. Solo means you are the main artist with perhaps one opening act.

Anyway I am glad I assisted to his first solo concert at the Fantasy Springs! I will never forget this! It was realy "Adamazing!"

Other than the AMAs, there have been absolutely NO shaky performances whatsoever. Every live performance I have seen has been nothing short of awesome....he is a true rock star. Whether you like his style or not is one thing....but his vocals are out of this world by any standard.

Thank you for this great article because Adam's deserved that. He is the most amazing singer I never see for many many years..He took that song Whole Lotta Love who he interpret the other times more like the Letzeplen like the real band sang...but like that to acoustic guitar is the most most beautiful amazing fantastic song I never heard in my life...God he have all we want in the industy. He put his amazing voice on song and here we gooooooooo we just love that..

All his song he make in his first CD are so beautiful and his performance on each song are a thinks we never forget when he performe ...so please let this great man who make me fell like Elvis make feel all his fan's...

SamyGrrl, I'm afraid there's been some misunderstanding. I'm not saying Adam has had "shaky performances" (depending on who you ask, not even the AMAs gig would qualify as "shaky"), I'm saying he's been on "shaky ground as regards his live performances," in the sense that criticial reception of them has been polarized, even more than before. To clear that up, I updated the text to read as was my intent. Thank you for pointing it out to me and for your nice words. Best, Elena :)

Adam Lambert is phenomenal. He is a huge talent, a great voice and a great performer. He loves his fans! He is an Elvis, a Michael Jackson, and a Superstar Adam Lambert!!!!!!!! Yep, this fantasy Concert was HISTORIC! And his Jay Leno performance proved that ADAM HAS MADE IT ON HIS OWN TERMS AND ON THE MERITS OF HIS TALENT!!!!!!!!!!! He has left american idol in the dust!!! We cant wait for Adam to come to the Northeast. THE WORLD LOVES ADAM, cuz he is generous , kind and oh sooooo interesting & talented. Thank You Fantasy Springs!!

Comment #17 by: Elena Gorgan on 04 Mar 2010, 14:21 UTC reply to this comment

magsmagenta, the quote Shannon was referring to was something else from what you're saying, it was about this technically being Adam's first solo concert. I'm not trying to spread misinformation, let alone try to suggest that Adam had a bad day so you're reading too much into this. As for the "shaky ground" part, see my comment to SamyGrrl for clarification and the updated article. Thank you for your comment. Best, Elena

I was at Fantasy Springs and it was everything I hoped it would be and more. He is absolutely phenomenal! Acoustic WLL...i don't even know what to say. Watch the video, but make sure you've got a cigarette because you'll need one by the end of the song. It's a beautiful experience!
Adam is not predictable and never boring! I love being one of his fans!

Dear Elena, I guess I took your article in a positive light----I get what you are saying about Adam and his AMA performance. There were probably many people waiting to put him down after that, even though I loved it personally. However, he is here to stay and out-perform any contemporaries that are floating around. I am a proud Glambert, waiting for my chance to see Adam live. Until then, I am here searching out whatever I can find about this magnificent performer!!! Adam, you rock!!!

Comment #20 by: Babs on 07 Mar 2010, 15:57 UTC reply to this comment

Sorry for beating a dead horse, but as I read it, the reference to "shakiness" has to do with being on "shaky ground with some critics". Even Elvis or MJ could be on shaky grounds with "some critics" (e.g. my poor deceased mom). Adam is unbelievably epic no matter what he does. Fantasy Springs was a concert of a lifetime! And now he's getting lots of love down under...keep it up, Adam, you will be forever!!!!
