“Imma hurt you real good” and “Do you know what you got into?” are just two of the things that Adam Lambert tells his audience / fans on his first single off the debut album, “For Your Entertainment,” which hit airwaves just minutes ago. As promised, Adam himself premiered the track on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show and, also as promised, it’s something different from mainstream pop, combining “dance music with a glam rock shuffle beat,” he says, as cited by MTV.

Lambert has long been talking about his debut album, saying that it would be very difficult to fit into a single genre or category for the simple reason that it would borrow elements from as many as possible. The same goes for the lead single, also named “For Your Entertainment,” an uptempo disco-glam track that is already getting fans jumping to their feet and dancing to it. In all fairness, critics say, it’s next to impossible to keep still when the track comes on.

Adam himself told Seacrest a short while ago that he was extremely pleased with the song, while also immensely excited about introducing it to the world. “I am so excited, I popped right out of bed. Turn it up really loud, guys! I know it’s really early, but turn it up!” Adam said of the track that he described as “dance music with a glam rock shuffle beat.”

“There are echoes of Lady Gaga, countless ‘80s tunes and, during the chorus, ‘Fame.’ He doesn’t show off his vocal range until the end, when he unleashes some of his signature yells. The single was produced by Dr. Luke, who has worked with Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears, Daughtry and Mos Def, and written with Claude Kelly, whose credits include collaborations with Spears, Clarkson and Miley Cyrus.” MTV further says of the new release.

Below is the full version of the “For Your Entertainment” single. In a Twitter message uploaded shortly after premiering it on Ryan Seacrest, Adam said he hoped fans would blast it while preparing for Halloween and then later in the clubs. Listen below to see whether that’s what you’re doing tonight.
