Singer talks to Ellen about much mediated arrest, says it was blown out of proportion

As he's started to promote his upcoming album, “Trespassing,” Adam Lambert is forced to address a series of questions of a more personal nature, such as his arrest in Finland in December. He did just that on a recent appearance on Ellen DeGeneres.

Adam and his boyfriend of a little over a year, Sauli Koskinen, were detained in Finland after a drunken verbal spat degenerated and spilled into the street.

Both men were released hours later and there were no charges filed but, even so, some media outlets started to speculate that perhaps Adam was being violent towards his boyfriend.

Obviously, that's not true, Adam told Ellen, laughing off such ridiculous allegations. That part of the interview is below, embedded at the end of the article.

“You know, relationships are work and I’m so lucky to have fallen in love with a great partner. Everybody has their ups and downs, things happen. When you add alcohol to a situation, things can get out of control and some people can get upset and emotional,” the singer says, asked directly what exactly happened on the night of their arrest.

“What happened was, we had too much to drink. We screwed up. There were no injuries, no violence. It was more of childish, foolish, messiness,” Adam explains.

Even though no one was hurt, Adam realized that he was more in the wrong than Sauli, just as he realized the error of such ways.

“I was a little irresponsible and I think what I learned from the experience was that I owe it to myself, to my loved ones, and to my fans to be a little more adult and pull it together,” he says.

“New Year’s resolution was like ‘OK, we’re cleaning up the act, and we’re juicing, and exercising,’ and I feel amazing,” he adds with a smile.

Also on the show, Adam performed his first single off “Trespassing,” the ballad “Better Than I Know Myself” and, as expected, he totally killed it. See it here.
