Even though busy with a sold-out international tour, Adam Lambert has taken some time out to put in an appearance on X Factor Australia to perform his chart-topping single “If I Had You.”

Of course, given that he’s one of the most successful artists of the day (even if some industry awards still choose to overlook him), he received an intro worthy of someone of his talent and popularity.

He took to the stage, dressed in a high-shouldered jacket, plenty of makeup and even more glitter, while members of the audience kept screaming at the top of their lungs.

In fact, Adam was so warmly received that, at certain points during his performance, it almost seemed as if his voice could be drowned by the screaming.

Luckily, that didn’t happen, as Lambert delivered an impeccable rendition of his single, even mixing in some dancing and, even better, stopping to interact with the fans and shake some hands.

After the performance, Adam talked a bit about the controversy surrounding his career ever since he was still to come out with a studio album – back in his American Idol days –, and what it was like to be part of a television show of this kind.

“I got here this morning… at 5 a.m. So it’s like, going Down Under and doing it right, right?” Adam said when asked if he’d been in Australia for long.

Adam, as fans must know, is preparing to launch his Glam Nation Tour in the country: it kicks off today, at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre.

“I think controversy is in the eye of the beholder. When I get on the stage, I just do what I do. So you either like it or you don’t,” Adam also said when asked about the controversy that seems to follow him no matter what he does.

To hear what Adam also has to say about his music and launching his career on American Idol – as well as his tips for X Factor Australia hopefuls – check out the video below.

As usual, enjoy the performance.
