On April 1, this year, Adam Lambert fans nearly had a heart attack, when what looked like the dates for his first tour got out online. As it turned out next day, it was nothing but an April Fools’ hoax, with Adam himself asking for more patience because the day will come too when he’ll announce the dates. And that he did.
Adam Lambert, the runner-up on the previous season of American Idol and one of the best selling and most appreciated pop stars of the moment, is embarking on his first tour as a solo recording artist. Called the Glam Nation Tour, it will be an affair of much glamour, theatrics and sparkles, as Lambert himself promised on more than one occasion. What it won’t be though is controversial like his AMAs performance, as Examiner can confirm.
Asked whether he had any plans of kissing one of his male bandmembers a fixture on his agenda as regards live performing, Adam says haters should look for something else to hate. There will be theatrics and plenty of outrageous costumes, but no kissing. What happened at the American Music Awards was a spontaneous gesture that he wishes he’d never done – though he does not regret it in the sense of feeling somewhat forced to apologize for it.
“That is not the plan... I don’t want that to become some sort of schtick. If I keep doing it, everyone is going to expect it all the time. I don’t work like that. I like the element of surprise,” Adam says of what fans should expect from his live shows. If his recent performance at the 21st annual GLAAD Awards (see video at the end of the article) is any indication of what fans should expect, then that can be easily resumed as follows: lots of glitter, perhaps some lasers, good choreography, excellent showmanship and a voice that you can tell apart from a million, if not more.
