AdMob has announced the general availability of its iPad App SDK, a tool enabling devs to quickly integrate code and start monetizing their applications. All publishers can download and install the software in their applications starting today. The SDK supports two ad formats in native iPad applications: text & tile ads and image ads.

AdMob reveals that it has seen strong interest from developers in its software development kit (SDK) while it was in beta. The company is now very excited to make it generally available, it has said in a blog post authored Omar. “Our new SDK is unified across all devices running the iPhone OS, which means that developers can download one binary for development across all Apple iPhone OS devices – iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad,” the post reads. “AdMob’s unified iPhone SDK makes it easier for developers to quickly integrate our code and start monetizing their applications,” Omar writes on the AdMob blog.

For publishers, AdMob is making the SDK available by requiring them a login with their AdMob account and selecting ‘Add Site/App’ from the ‘Sites & Apps’ tab in the navigation bar located at the top of the page. As far as advertisers are concerned, they can get started by selecting ‘Create New Ad Campaign’ followed by ‘Create New Ad Group,’ selecting the ad group goal and setting targeting to iPad.

“AdMob was one of the first companies to launch ad units for both iPhone and Android applications, and now we’re helping to drive innovation on the iPad,” the company says. “We consider today’s launch of text & tile and image ads for iPad native apps to just be the starting point. We’re always thinking about what’s next and working to leverage the unique capabilities of mobile platforms to create engaging ad experiences. With that in mind, we’ve put together a sneak preview of the creative potential of iPad ads using HTML5.” Readers can watch the preview here, on AdMob’s blog.

“We’re excited about the potential of the iPad for both advertisers and publishers and will continue to invest in providing best in class monetization and advertising solutions on this platform,” the Google-owned advertising company adds. “Advertisers should note that any ads targeted to the iPhone OS include the iPad by default and it is also possible to target only iPad devices. Our iPad network is growing rapidly,” Omar concludes for AdMob.

The advertisers encourage those who want to learn more about their iPad traffic to visit AdMob’s Mobile Metrics Blog. Softpedia reported last month that AdMob’s April Mobile Metrics report analyzed the number of unique Android and iPhone devices in its network, and found that there were twice as many iPhone OS devices as Android ones in use. The numbers are valid for the US market only.
