Acunetix Web Vulnerability Scanner version 4 is the latest product designed to provide enterprises with a complete solution for the detection of website and web application related vulnerabilities.
The application automatically identifies security flaw by testing the protection level. Its Modus Operandi is to generate web attacks SQL Injection, Cross Site Scripting and Google hacking in order to dig out vulnerabilities and to propose recommendations for their repair.

"This release comes at a time when hackers are launching more aggressive attacks on web applications. Some hackers have successfully compromised the websites of large companies such as Microsoft and Paypal and even accessed very personal and highly sensitive data of thousands of victims through government websites." said Nick Galea, CEO of Acunetix."

In general, web applications are predisposed to attacks as the software makes use of ports through which the content needs to pass freely as a basic condition of the business operation. Acunetix markets its product based on the irrefutable argument of a 52% increase in online attacks that have targeted financial institutions in 2006.

"The dramatic rise in web application hacks is denting online purchasing confidence and causing irreversible damage to businesses," stated Galea. "That is why we are offering free security audits to any business with an online presence."

Acunetix WVS 4 has an enlarged encyclopedia of vulnerabilities backed by heuristic scanning technology which, according to its creators is a main new feature. Moreover, Acunetix's Web scanner will scan Javascript and AJAX applications, an innovative feature that addresses realistically the increase of online attacks via Asynchronous JAvaScript and XML. Additionally the Web Vulnerability Scanner version 4 offers features like: Command Line Support, URL Rewrites, Custom Cookies Support and Enhanced Search, Scheduling, Logging and Reporting.
