Acunetix has released a security update for the Web Vulnerability Scanner 8 (WVS 8) to include not only a number of improvements in the features department, but also a new security check for the now-infamous PHP-CGI vulnerability.

The updated version of Acunetix WVS 8 checks if PHP-CGI installations are vulnerable to remote code executions.

Other new features include the ability to edit scheduled scans, the logging of scan results, and a new setting that allows users to set the maximum number of pages that are checked during a crawl.

The vendor also reports that improvements have been made in the cross-site scripting (XSS) tests and from now on, SQL Injection tests should return even less false positives.

In the “bug fixes” section the importing of scheduled scans has been improved, the false positives settings node has been changed to support changes dictated by multiple instances, and the history can be saved by the Web Service Definition Language (WSDL) Scanner URL edit box.
