Acunetix’s Web Vulnerability Scanner is used by a large number of security experts to test websites and Web applications for vulnerabilities. Now, Accunetics has launched the online version of the vulnerability scanner.

Businesses of all sizes can use the Acunetix Online Vulnerability Scanner to test their sites and apps for security holes that could be exploited by hackers. Powered by the Acunetix core web vulnerability scanning technology, the new product can be used to find flaws not only in websites and web applications, but also in web and other types of servers.

The company promises that the Online Vulnerability Scanner produces few or no false positives, and it can find issues even with HTML5 and JavaScript-based technologies. The list of flaws that can be detected with the scanner includes not only the classic cross-site scripting (XSS) and SQL Injection vulnerabilities, but also DOM XSS and Blind SQL Injection.

When a problem is detected, the user is provided with all the information he/she needs, including vulnerability impact and advice on how to fix the bug.

The company guarantees that all content on all pages is analyzed to make sure no vulnerabilities go undetected.

To make the Online Vulnerability Scanner more efficient, the company has teamed up with OpenVAS, the world’s most advanced open source network vulnerability scanner. OpenVAS provides the Acunetix solution with a constantly updated database of more than 33,000 security holes.

If a site is completely secure, the solution automatically generates a seal that reassures customers regarding its reliability.

“Third party verification from a reliable security expert has shown to enhance consumer trust, overcome confidence issues and improve cart completion rates,” Acunetix noted when it launched the new product on Thursday.

The Acunetix Online Vulnerability Scanner is not free, but if you want to make a test run before purchasing it, a 14-day trial is available.

If you decide that the solution suits your needs, you can order a 1-year subscription. The price varies depending on the number of websites or apps you want to scan. If you have three targets, the subscription costs $810 (€600) per year.

For 10 targets, customers pay $2,570 (€1,900). If you want to scan 50 targets, the yearly price is $12,150 (€9,000).

It’s not difficult to sign up and start scanning a website. Users only need to install a verification code on their sites and the scan can be launched. However, it may take several hours to completely scan a target, depending on how large it is.
