As it turns out, everybody can have their dream wedding, even if one happens to be a crocodile and therefore not exactly marriage material.

Not to beat about the bush, media reports tell us it was not too long ago that the mayor of a fishing town in Mexico tied the knot with an actual crocodile.

That's right, a living and breathing reptile, which even got to wear a white dress at the wedding ceremony, is now the pride wife of Joel Vasquez Rojas, the mayor of the town of San Pedro Huamelula.

According to Sky News, this peculiar ceremony was carried out in order to ensure that fishermen in this town would catch loads of fish, shrimp, and fish in the season to come.

Thus, the mayor's wedding to the crocodile, which locals claim is actually a princess, is part and parcel of local tradition. “It's the greatest treasure our ancestors have left us,” explains local Eduardo Zarate.

During the ceremony, the crocodile not only wore a white dress, but also got to dance with guests. What's more, fireworks were fired in its and its husband's honor.

All things considered, the animal probably had some issues moving its body to the rhythm, but apparently, everything turned out more than alright in the end.

In case anyone was wondering, the money needed to throw this wedding party for mayor Joel Vasquez Rojas and his crocodile sweetheart were provided by members of the local council.
