While just the other day actor Patrick Swayze sat down with television personality Barbara Walters for the first interview since being diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer to speak of remaining optimistic, his road to beating the disease might have just hit a hard wall. Yesterday, during a press event for the Television Critics Association in Los Angeles, A&E revealed that Patrick had checked into the hospital for pneumonia.

The actor, who has been bravely battling cancer, has also come down with pneumonia but, so far, the situation has been under control, it has been said. As a matter of fact, Swayze checked into the hospital in order to be kept under observation, and not because he was anywhere close to giving up the fight, media representatives present at the event were told.

“As we arrived here this morning we have some news. Patrick Swayze has checked himself into the hospital. However, he asked us specifically to go forward with today’s panel. We wish him the very best with his recovery.” A&E President Abbe Raven said. The “Ghost” star was supposed to attend the event to speak of his new show, “The Beast,” which is scheduled to start airing on January 15.

People magazine managed to contact a couple of sources close to the actor and his wife, and has learned that, while this is definitely a setback, it is by no means the end of the road for Patrick. “Patrick is undergoing treatment and he’s still fighting. He felt so bad that he couldn't be at the TCAs. He’s fighting and doing well, and that’s all anybody can hope for at this stage. He is not at death’s door. Nobody ever knows with cancer, but he’s doing alright. As soon as he’s out, he's going to try to reschedule as much as he can.” the spy told the mag.

Another source has also chipped in on Patrick’s determination, stressing that, while he’s all too aware of his situation, he’s also set to not let it get the best of him. “He knows he’s not a miracle. There’s only so much he can do. He needs to take care of himself, so he checked himself in to get the help he needs.” the spy is quoted as saying.

As of now, details on Patrick’s state have not been made public. Keep an eye on this space for when they are, as we’ll be keeping you up to date.

I would really like to see some form of contact information for Patrick Swayze so that compassionate fans may be able to send him notes of moral support. I am an author and have recently published a Christian Novel (Gun of the Preacher's Son), which I would like to send him. It has a lot of content which could be of great comfort and a source of encouragement and hope for Patrick.
Could someone connected with this Website please make an effort to post a source of contact (e-mail or snail-mail) so that fans may better stand with him during this time of extreme difficulty and hardship. This could literally help save his life...... Larry W. Davis

Hello Larry. The fastest and, I’m afraid, only available way of contacting Patrick Swayze is via his official fan club. Go here, http://www.patrickswayze.net/contact.htm, and look for the Guest book, where you can leave a message for the actor. The guys here vouch that all fan messages are sent to Patrick every month, and that they have it from his staff that he reads them all. Good luck.
